Desecheo Island National Wildlife Refuge Desecheo Island, 14 miles from the coast, is not open to visitors; however, diving, snorkeling and fishing around the island is allowed.

Rincon Lighthouse Park / El Faro Lighthouse, 787 823-2244. Erratic hours; sign on door says 'usually open at 10:30'. Recreation site with a beautiful view of the Desecheo Island National Wildlife Refuge on Mona Passage. The park has a gift shop and a snack bar.

Rincon Nuclear Plant. Unusual dome shaped building that is currently being converted into a museum.

Sports Center and Public Gymnasium Rincon has a great sports complex which is open to the public and a great facility for visitors who want to stay in shape while on vacation. Located in the Corcega section of Rincon, you'll find a running track that is a favorite for local joggers. There is also a well-equipped gymnasium if you want a more intensive workout. There is also a basketball court, baseball diamond and tennis courts. The Sports Complex has plenty of free parking and is open seven days a week.

Whale watching. Usually December-March, February being the peak season. While impossible to predict what time whales will show up, usually before 10AM and evenings are the best time. The Rincon Lighthouse is a great place to whale watch.

Rincon is an amazing place to surf. What put Rincon on the map was the 1968 World Surfing Championship held at Domes Beach in Rincon, Puerto Rico. If you are learning to surf definitely try getting an instructor, these will show you where the best places are for your level of surfing. The winter surf along Rincon's coast is some of the best in the region. Most generally regarded as one of the best surf spots across the globe, Rincon draws surfers from around the world. Rincon is the center of the island surf scene. Dubbed the "Caribbean Pipeline," winter waves here can approach 25 feet (6.7m) in height, equaling the force of the surf on Oahu's north shore. Famed surfing beaches in town include Puntas, Domes, Tres Palmas, Steps, Sandy Beach, Antonio's, Pools, and Maria's. The best time to surf is from November through April, but summer storms can also kick up the surf.
